What We Do
We use the music, movement and joy of capoeira to create safe environments for self-expression that bring communities together. Our programmes are tailored to the local situation and created in partnership with the local community.

Project Scenarios
To help with our planning and fundraising we have three main project scenarios:
Emergency relief in post-conflict zones and sites of environmental disaster
Bidna Capoeira work with communities displaced by conflict or environmental disaster. We offer a welcome distraction from everyday hardships of living in makeshift homes and give parents a safe place to leave their children whilst finding food & fresh water.
Rehabilitation and community integration
In communities disrupted by internal conflict and insecurity, capoeira can be used to help re-integrate and rehabilitate social groups. Capoeira helps to create safe spaces for self expression and act as a forum for addressing issues affecting the community, such as gender-based violence or the effects of post traumatic stress.
Assisting sustainable development
We actively build relationships with the community including: schools, social services and community based organisations. Our classes can be tailored to raise awareness on public health or environmental issues, to promote school participation, or provide local work opportunities.
The long-term goal of Bidna Capoeira programmes is to establish locally run, sustainable capoeira centres that function as centre for community action, effectively contributing to local culture, self-empowerment and social development.
Potential Projects
While developing our approach and growing our team of experienced trainers, we intend to focus our efforts in the Middle East.
Currently we are targeting projects in:
- West Bank & Gaza
- Syria
- Ethiopia
To achieve all this we need your help; see what you can do.
