Our Values

At times we are faced with difﬁcult decisions and our values guide us to do the right thing not the easy thing.

Great mestres inspire us, representing all that is good in capoeira:

Axé: having great positive energy
Collaboration: working closely with all their students and other mestres
Integrity: being honest; admitting weaknesses or mistakes
Respect: acting with humility; treating all people equally
Sustainability: training other capoeiristas to teach

Capoeira unity

Capoeira has many schools and schools of thought, which have been known to cause a hastera or two. If you play Angola, Regional or Contemporana from any school, you are welcome to join us – however, prejudices of any kind must be left at home.

Maximum Respect is one of our values and it is vitally important to us that all our trainers and volunteers support our values and lead by example. We are representing capoeira unity.

Transparency

We don’t just want to post annual reports, we want to be totally transparent – to us this is real integrity. We are currently putting in place systems that will allow us to give regular updates of our accounts and spending, linked to results.

We might not always get the result or be right on budget but we will report our mistakes and learn from them.
